Winding Creek Produce is a family-owned business rooted in the legacy of Hoover’s Produce and named for the creek on their original farm. They utilize sustainable practices like minimal spraying and natural weed control to grow a diverse selection of fruits, vegetables, and hydroponic lettuce. Their stands also feature homemade canned goods, fresh-ground nut butters, and prepared meals from their commercial kitchen.

Roots & History
The story of our business began with a connection to the land and a commitment to family. The name Winding Creek Produce was inspired by the creek that flowed through the property where we first started growing our produce.
We initially grew crops for Jay’s parents to take to market. Over time, we transitioned into managing the operations ourselves and eventually took over the family business, formerly known as Hoover’s Produce. Today, Jay and Doris Hoover, along with their family, continue this legacy by providing fresh, high-quality products to our local communities.
What We Offer
Our indoor stands feature an extensive variety of fresh, local, and homemade items:
Eggs: Choice of our own farm eggs or non-GMO pastured eggs from a friend.
Fresh Produce: A full line of fruits and vegetables, including local hydroponic lettuce and seasonal garden herbs.
From the Kitchen: Homemade cookies, strawberry pies, noodles, potpie, and a wide variety of canned goods like pickles, relishes, jams, and apple butter.
Fresh Ground Nut Butters: Peanut, cashew, and almond, including specialty flavors like honey roasted, butterscotch, and cappuccino.
Prepared Meals: Chicken pies, vegetable soup, shepherd’s pie, and eggplant parmesan made in our commercial kitchen.
Dairy & Meats: Milk, yogurt, and cheese curls from Horning Ford Creamery, plus frozen regenerative meats from Meadowland Farms.
Eggs: Choice of our own farm eggs or non-GMO pastured eggs from a friend.
Specialty & Seasonal Highlights
We offer unique products and seasonal favorites that change throughout the year to ensure you always have something new to discover:
Cider & Snacks: Pick up Butter Blossom Cider from September through April, or try our flavored cheese curls from Horning Ford Creamery.
Seasonal Fruits & Flora: Enjoy fresh cherries, peaches, and apples sourced from a neighbor’s orchard when in season. We also offer fresh flower bouquets during the summer months.
The “Heat” Garden: From August through October, we offer approximately 12 different varieties of hot peppers grown right in our garden.
Winter Treats: During December, look for our special Christmas cookies.
Fresh Fermentations: We carry raw sauerkraut from November through March, as well as fermented pickles made right in our own kitchen.
Signature Pantry Items: We offer fresh ground horseradish and local honey year-round.
Specialty Nut Butters: Our fresh-ground cashew, almond, and peanut butters come in unique flavors like cappuccino and honey roasted.
Our Sustainable Approach
We believe in farming with integrity to keep our plants and animals healthy:
Local Partnerships: We supplement our garden with cherries, peaches, and apples from a neighbor’s orchard and mushrooms from local PA growers.
Natural Methods: We use tillage and mulch for weed control and endeavor to use minimal sprays.
Zero Waste: Anything we cannot sell or share is fed to our chickens, rabbits, and steers.
Happy Animals: Our chickens enjoy free-range pens and “buckets of weeds” to devour.
